am working other avenues but anyone kknow of any Guzzi support in SE Hungary? msgs

No contacts there Daniel but word us up a bit more on the circumstances.

First up I'd look at the earth straps under the starter motor cover and the battery terminal connections. Then try playing 'Musical Relays'. Generally though no-startee type problems are due to battery voltage drop due to bad earths and/or the battery having been put into service wrong. Does the dash do its 'Sweep' and then when you press the button it all goes dead and *maybe* you get a bried message on the screen? If so it's definitely V-drop related.

One big problem with hungarian is that nobody but Hungarians speaks the lingo.
There is, however, a company called Millemoto dealing with the Piaggio-sphere bikes, 2120 Dunakeszi
Pallag u. 13. phone +36 27 548800 who may be able to give you a helping hand.

I just found another: Vario Autó Kft., Siklósi út 45. 7362 Pécs, phone +36 72 547 643

or X-Treme Motor Kft., Csaba vezér út 129., 3508 Miskolc phone +36 46 332 006

I know that út means street, rendörzeg is Police and Hungary is Magyarorzag, but that is my entire hungarian vocabulary.... :(

re Hungarian:

As in much of the rest of the world, folks in Hungary are typically fluent in several languages. A common language in Hungary, aside from Hungarian of course, is German. When the Germans invaded Hungary the last time, they (Germans) required Hungarians to learn the German language. Since that time, many Hungarians speak German.

Russian is another fairly common language in Hungary ... but I sensed that using Russian phrases in Hungary doesn't exactly get you the best seat at the restaurant if you know what I mean.

And on the left we have the Danube River....

Daniel,

Could be the ECU connectors ...... probably shaken and not making contact.
Under the dash on the left ....

Also check for battery connections. I've had to clean several when I've encountered this. They may look OK, but the lead turns black on the battery (lead sulfide?) and won't conduct.

Any news from Daniel?

Hope the bike is up and well again!

I'm back. GuzziTech does not like loading on a smart phone....

In the end, the problem was water that found its way into the plastic fuse box forward of the fuel tank a day after the heavy rain. All electrics (inncluding the engine) shut down while I was riding in the sunshine. Sigh... The folks in Dunakeszi (just north of Budapest) did a very efficient job at tracking down the problem area and sealed that box as well as a few other connections that were not what they should have been. I hit heavy rain the next day with no effect, so I think they got it.

photos to follow...

Good to hear it was an easy fix in the end!

Re Hungarian, I'm quite sure English would be the preferred language for those under 40. Despite the many spoken languages, signs, phone books, innernet sites and public announcements are still in Hungarian in Hungary ;)

Hey Holt,

So me and my buddy are in Budapest looking for Gulash, Tokia, and Gypsy music. We hit the tourist show on castle hill.

CastleHill2.jpg

Sigi tips the band leader waaay too much and asks where the best ensemble is playin tonight?

The band leader escorts us to a cab, says something to the driver in Hungarian, and away we go.

Down the hill and wandering along we wind up in a place like a hot dog stand in Chicago. Florescent lights and all. The folks at the next table... 4 of the other 6 people there, were from Naperville Illinois !!! The town I used to work in!!!

I was not impressed.... then the band started.

I don't have the words to describe how that music affected me. The band transported me to somewhere I've never been... and hope to be again someday. Incredible.

Budapest. Unique. Wonderful.

Alex

you're in Hungary, kilometers from anywhere, and nothing works. What do you do? Take a photograph.

I'm quite sure Andre Kertesz was thinking of you when he took this (sad) picture in 1916
