While out riding the stelvio ntx, the bike just died and i got a unpluged ecu logo on the dash. I trailed the bike home and checked the 3 amp ecu fuse by the stearing neck and swapped out the ecu relay. I also unplugged the ecu and cleaned the the plug with contact cleaner. The battery is good, 13.8v. When you turn the key, you have lights and the dash goes through the startup mode and thats it. Any ideas ? 20220807 110819

If it were me, and I'm no Moto Guzzi guru, I would verify the integrity of all the wires that connect to the ECU. Take a visual approach first and look for pinch points in the wiring loom and areas near the steering tube where the loom is bent repeatedly via handlebar rotation. Also with the ignition switch on, wiggle the wires by hand that are connected to the ECU and see if your dash ECU symbol/warning changes.

If all passes the visual and wiggle test, I would check the continuity of each wire using a multi-meter. It's super helpful to have a wiring diagram for diagnosing electrical problems.

Good luck and keep us apprised of your progress.

And as Scott asked in your duplicte post (which has been deleted) do you have software to connect to the ECU? Also are you seeing any other codes displayed in the diagnostics area of the dash functions.

There is more to the story here I am sure.

Did you connect ANY software on a computer to your ECU?

Did you try and download ANY map to your ECU?

In addition to the above, check that the extra ground connector to the ECU is clean and tight. There should be a cover over the ECU to prevent water getting to this connection. Early models didn't have it and it was added later. A bad ground connection can take out an ECU.

We inspected the wires and found no issues. We did meter the fuse blocks and they were good. The only error message is the ecu icon. We have not messed with the software or attached a pc to the bike. The bike is all stock with no mods. It has apx 40000 miles on it.

What year Stelvio are we talking about here please?

Also, please check the ground from the ECU.

Remove and wire brush it very clean.

Just to confirm, the motorcycle gives the same error every time and it will not start.

And battery voltage is critical. Age and life of battery, and has it been load tested? If not, do.
