Just got it firing!
So I just acquired a beautifully kept MK5 last month but I've still got a serious boner on for the MK3.
I've seen a number of MK4s for sale at quite affordable prices and it occurred to me that it might be possible to build a replica that combines the look of the MK3 with the big-valve motor:
- Except for the up swept frame rails aft of the rear shocks on the MK4 and 5, are the frames similar enough to justify this fantasy?
- Will a MK3 tank, for example, bolt up to a MK4 frame?
- Further to that, are other Tonti frames of 1990's vintage (California's, etc) of the same geometry as the LeMans and amenable to a conversion?
Your shared experience much appreciated.
