Hi all,

I'm thinking about double plugging my new project 850 T. Guzziology advised it's a good thing for T's but wondering if anyone has any personal experience/traps for new players etc.... E.G, I've got a Dyna III ignition and am assuming this will do the trick with double coils. True story?

... and also..... any Aussies out there that know a decent machine shop in Sydney that could do it?

Cheers,
James

Hi,I am also in Sydney.
I have heard that T bikes are not worth Twin plugging, the trouble and expense are not worth the result.
But if you wish to go ahead, there is no one in Sydney that has the experience to do the job.

I would suggest you contact Bernt at Stein Dinse Australia in Healsville,Vic and he will do a good job for about $360- 380 (last price I know, maybe more now)
You will need to send the heads plus the Distributor to be modified, plus buy new coils/leads.
Brett

Thanks Brett,

I'd been thinking it might be a bit OTT for a street bike.
Appreciate the advice.

Cheers,
James

If your bike is not detonating on your local fuel and you don't intend to change the compression dual plugging will not help much.

If you intend to up the compression etc then it can help a lot. My lemans 1 went from being a detonating pig to being a very sweet engine. The round fin is comparatively easy to dual plug by someone who has done it before. Yes you need double ended coils - five ohms for the dyna.

The new hole uses smaller 10mil plugs and an allen headed bolt instead of a stud. You then have to recurve the ignition (play with springs and weights) to give you 6 degrees or so less full advance.
