Eldorado Jump Start

I would think but I'm no expert. Everyone talks about Cadre in high regard so I'm rolling with what they are saying. He said he would do a diagnostic but believes it sounds like a straight battery swap to solve from what I described over the phone.
I had a few of the early lithium batteries, they weren't great. combined with the old 'startus interruptus' issues, I can see how someone working on guzzis in that period could come that conclusion. the new batteries are vastly improved though, those problems are in the past.

For some strange reason I like you folks and since I don't know Enzo yet I went and got the BSLi-09 battery. Before I do something I can't back out of though I'm reading the installation guide and looking at the battery and am a little perplexed on how to connect the bike's connector's to the new battery as the terminals are completely different. (1st pic).

For entertainment value I'll add that when I took the old battery out I found what appeared to be a bunch of debris like a nest packed right beside it. I have no idea of how that got in there.

Just a normal project from hell with me.

I just used the screws they provided and screwed them into the most convenient threaded hole. Did not attempt to unscrew the post-holding screw and/or remove the brass tombstone-shaped thingy.

Episode 36 of Tony's newb adventures: Checked the air filter. It looks brand new. Fitted the new BSLi-09 battery lithium battery. I just bent the connectors into "L" shapes instead of "U" and screwed them down. Indicator on battery was reading full charge. Checked with voltmeter between terminals, showed 12.3V. Started bike, dropped to 11.6 momentarily and then came back up to 12.4. Also showed 12.4V on dash. Voltage did not come up when I revved it which was a little worrying but what the hell? Threw on gear, and left into sunset. Voltage reading on dash started at 12.4V and then dropped slowly to 12.1V over about a mile. Really nervous now so turned back for home. Voltage drop picked up speed down to 10.1V at which point the dash goes bonkers and throws all kinds of ECU errors. Couldn't read voltage after that. Weaving around cars trying to get home faster. Pulled right up to drive and it died right at the curb. Put my head on the bars thankful and mad. Muscled it up the driveway incline into the garage. Popped the battery cover and tested. Showed 8.6V. I'm scheduled for the four hour trip to drop it off at Cadre on Friday.

The alternator on those is of Chinese manufacture . Assuming the belt hasn't broken , and the 2 connections to the alternator
are still connected . With the gas tank removed the voltage regulator on the back of the alternator is visible and accessible . These can be found on ebay for around $40..00 . Replacing the alternator (if that;s the problem) will be very expensive , it's quite the chore to
replace it . An auto electrical repair shop may stock the parts (regulator) . Good Luck . Peter

The alternator is made by Denso. Regulator is available on the STORE tab above, linked below for you.
