Tis I again...

Fistly I should say we had a great ride out, I was on a shake down ride to make sure all is well after the long cold and wet winter months. Fully loaded, two up we set off for a 30 mile motorway ride before hitting the twisty stuff for a further 100 miles, same again to get home. Not sure about others but my Stel loves 90mph in top gear, just purrs along, happy as larry...

Handles very well for a big lump with luggage and two on board, I keep scraping the main stand though which makes the little woman on the back jump... I suppose it keeps her awake.. ;)

Anyway, I just thought I'd mention the bike is running like a dream so you don't think I only post when I have a problem.

Electrical issue is 30amp fuse (under seat, close to tank) blows when I switch on fog lamps. I guess I'm looking for something simple given they worked before the winter set in. I'll take a look at the weekend but any thoughts and where to look might save me some time. Thanks.

Fog lamps are SW-Motech

Cheers

A fair bit has been mentioned on this problem if you have a rummage about, it's usually down to the wires within the lamp body. They are bunched/coiled up in the metal part of the lamp and chafe. They need to be resorted and placed in the rear/rubber boot section of lamp body. Some extra tape around the wires as well may help prevent recurrance.

I've seen the posts re this issue but my bike came without lamps and I bought the SW-Motech lamps, I will check and see if it's a simillar issue though..

I'm not comfortable with the lamps running through the 30 amp fuse that runs the bike... :S is it worth running them direct from the battery with an inline fuse and a seperate switch?

You could, but I think there is the possibility of them left being switched on when you leave the bike, or someone switching them on when youre not there.

Did you keep the factory connector? I'll be making plug and play inline fuse holders for the NTX which should work for pre-NTX bikes.
