Need advice about changing from points system to electronic ?
I have seen most of the options and the Dyna 3 looks like the best rated option.

However when browsing some german sites , see link.(http://www.motoschmitz.de/shop/template/index.htm)
they seem to have a neater solution using Bosch Ignition modules etc.

What is other peoples opinions of the different systems ?
are the Bosch systems any better ? (they look better engineered to me )

appreciate any comments ?

Hi luka,
I'm big on the ZDG set up which is also german.I't's mounted on the alternator which means you can blank off the distributor hole and dispense with it plus you should get the most accurate spark timing.Works like a treat on the NTX 650 and at some point I will have a shot with it on the T3 which currently sports a newtronic / pirahna which is available again and isn't very expensive. That's also been pretty trouble free and has done loads of miles but I suspect the distributer will need a shakedown and I frankly can't be bothered !!
Silent Hekik do a simular set up to the ZDG but uses magnetic pulses rather than led lights to do the triggering. It's a lot more faff to order too.

thanks for the tip , have had a look and yes its a good idea but doesnt the alternator get hot ? and bit exposed to the elements.
the unit just looks a bit homemade.
The Bosch stuff on the german site just looks better quality ?

Seems to not be a problem heat wise ...the NTX has a sparisa alternator...even in the hight of the summer when it was getting up to 40 deg c .On a big bloc I'd allways fit the ventilation spacer ring and the small fellas have a simular set up anyway.
The build quality is fine too in my eye and I personally like the photo electric cell breakers much more than the others .
One big reason for useing this unit was that the bike had a motoplatt system that constantly played up in different ways untill finally blowing out both the coils in the space of about 10km. A replacement was not only expensive but not seen to be very reliable. The NTX has a slightly more advanced and different curve from the other small blocs and the ZDG has it whereas I'm pretty sure that no other after market kit does.
Clive Jeffries may also have something to offer at a much lesser cost....
The chices seem to have realy widened in the past couple of years and I guess you just have to choose whose stuff is most relevent to you application and how much lucre you want to put in !!!!!
Cheers
