Ever get one of these?

GuardBroken.jpg

New ones are not available from "the factory." Copies go for the astounding price of $150 (US) per .... phew that's some Ferrari payments right there.

It took me about a year (part time of course) to find the material, build the 3 jigs needed, and figure out how to make these. Great fun for the whole family.

Gotta drill two drain holes and then chome time. Close enough for me.

I can post pics of the jigs if anyone is interested.

One of the early questions I had wuz how did they make those ends like that?

GuardEnd.jpg

Here's the jig I made. This is used in a press to make the flat ends with the rounded shapes

Nest question was regarding the mutiple radius bends.

This jig makes dual radius bends. The big one makes the large radius first. The the piece is flipped and the small radius is made.

I'll make up a step by step photo review and post it next week. It's been busy in the shop lately as we are setting up for prepping the lakester AND making room for a build of the 76 Lemans for LSR next year.

More soon,

Alex
