I check the engine oil level of my 2009 G8V every 1000km (625miles).

The oil level stays at the same spot on the dipstick every time I check it. I change the engine oil every 5000km (3125miles) and the oil level didn’t drop at all between changes. My old BMW R1150R would consume a liter (1 quart) of engine oil for the same oil change interval.

I love my Griso!

My 06 G1100 uses about 250 mls or so between 5000k oil and filter changes. You mentioned your R1150 R uses considerably more. What is your impression of the Griso versus the BM.I traded my R1150R Rockster and my wifes R1150R on my 06 G1100. I thought my BMW the most absolute hoot of all my previous bikes. I dont think the Griso is as "sharp " as the BM but the Griso is the fucken Bees Knees-GO THE WOG BIKES!!

I sold a R1150R to fund the purchase of my G8VSE.

What I miss about the Beemer:-

The BMW roundel – it is an Asian thing, those roundels are non motorcyclist crowd magnets. Guzzi badge only attracts bikers and Round Eyes/Gwai Lou.
Telelever
BMW service manual
Handlebar switchgear – I have short fingers
Engine oil sight glass
Center stand/Main stand
Flywheel TDC marking

Griso excels in the followings comparing to the R1150R:-

Simplicity
The sound it makes
Battery location
Airbox location
Excellent brakes feedback
High quality components/parts
Light throttle
Gearbox/transmission – precise and accurate shifts
Comfortable seat
Low parasitic drain -1.89mA for my Griso, my beemer sucked 20mA in comparison, that's 10 times more!
