Engine Paint flaking

Hello all,

horror upon horrors today I washed the bike and found bits of the black engine paint flaking off (jet wash probably a bad idea). Also bits of the other engine paint seems to be corroding (cant really describe the colour - goldey staff behind the cylinders).

What do I do?? Where do I get 'touch up' paint? Any ideas?

Cheers

Jock

Most of my flaky paint was on the gold b11 rocker covers. I took the bike to a lot paint retailer and bought a small airfix size paint touchup for a fiver. I used his sample colour catalogue to pick the closest match. I use the same colour on the carc reaction shaft and the swinging arm. not a perfect match but better than nothing.

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you but can you give me the paint number/info etc as its getting bad
Cheers
Jock

I can't remember the name of the paint supplier. Ask around yor local car paint suppliers for one that has sample strips and can mix small touch up bottles. I'm not sure your 1200 breva colour but it probably isn't the same as a B11 rocker cover which is what I matched to. The match isnt that good the goldy brown is a tad to gold and gloss where really matt was required. The paint shop could mix to the rocker cover only their closest sample. Still with 45000 miles my bike looks ok, I just scrape the flaky rocker paint off and touch with the bush in the bottle. You can swap the rockers around and move the flaky area to the rear.
