Ever bent a floorboard?

My 1400 Custom is only 2 months new to me so I can't say for sure but I may have bent a floorboard today. I suppose it could have been the last guy but it doesn't matter.

I installed Matris carts yesterday and took a long ride today. I got home and leaned the bike over and got off intending to brag to my wife how great it is. She was sitting nearby. I turned around and heard the tumble.

The driveway has a grade and the kickstand doesn't seem to fold that far past center. I must have let it roll a tad on the stand. Im going to grind something on the stand to get it to fold a bit further back.

Anyway, there was damage. The valve cover needed polishing. I filed then sanded then buffed. I lost the Moto Guzzi etching but otherwise you cant tell. Very small rash on the muffler I wet sanded and buffed.

The worst was the floorboard. The tab on the lower frame rail was tweaked as was the floorboard. I used a wood chunk and a deadblow to adjust the tab on the frame. I got it 90% right but didn't want to risk breaking the welds so I stopped short of real brutality. I put the floorboard in the vise and fixed the ears on the plate that mates to the frame. Got it all back together. It appears still to be off a touch. Im wondering if the tubes that are radiused from the frame to the board could have bent.

Long winded story, but the question is has anyone dropped their bike and bent a floorboard?

If you have the crash bars can you say whether they are arranged in a way that would keep weight off the floorboard should you decide to throw your bike down like a 10 year old with a BMX bike.

I don't plan this again, but if you ever break that tab off the frame you'll be at a real welders shop if you plan on a proper repair. It would be rough. You'd need to lift it and get a bunch of stuff off. Paint, maybe fab the tab. At least thats what it looks like. I don't want to find out.

Thanks

My 2014 Custom has fallen from a standstill twice. No engine guards. Once was while on a rather extreme off-camber, and it fell downhill. I saw what was happening a second after it started, so I slowed it down, but still couldn't stop it from happening. The other time was while trying to get the front wheel back out of a wheel chock. Again, I saw the fall begin, but couldn't stop it from making it to the driveway. Muffler damage on that first one (Mistrals, not stock), no damage at all on the 2nd. I've not noticed anything off about the floorboards. Now you've got me wondering, guess I'm going to have to take a good look in the morning!
