I`ve just got some secondhand Guzzi panniers and a Staintune silencer. I want to fit the panniers but need to lower the exhaust. I know Guzzi sell a lowering bracket but I`d rather make my own, question is, how long does the bracket need to be? A dimension between hole centres would be great.
I guess you just rotate the exhaust on the cat. outlet pipe but doesnt this move it closer to the rear wheel as well?

As close as I can measure it without taking it off the bike, it is 43mm between centres.
No it doesn't bring it closer to the wheel.
If you have a center stand fitted, you will need to carve some rubber off the stop.

Do these help?

This is my "spare" lowering bracket.

Sorry, I have no metric measuring tapes in my garage, I tried to keep the 5" line even with either the center of the hole or the edge of the bracket.

I went to a welder at our local tyre and exhaust place. I wanted my exhaust to fit below the panniers but hated the big gap of the exhaust dropping right down. So he cut the pipe behind the silencer and moved the whole exhaust backwards and still pointing upwards. He then made a new bend from stainless steel and it looks very good without pannier. No more hanging down of the exhaust when fitting the pannier.
AND the centre stand also went a little higher. I can almost touch it with my foot on the peg now. So ground clearance has improved.

Thanks for your replies guys. The mighty power of the forum can solve anything.
Gazdok, youre lucky to find such a competant fabricator welder in a tyre and exhaust depot, they are the modern day blacksmiths
