Extended sump oil usage relationship?

I noticed that before I installed the extended sump on my 2013V7 the bike used very little oil.

With the extended sump it appears to use oil and push It into the airbox more.

Anybody else notice this with these extended sumps?

So I'm thinking that somehow the added weight of the extra oil is somehow playing havoc with the oil pump feed situation?

I'm considering removing the extended sump and then watch and see if this oil consumption issue go away.

I have not noticed this. The small block has concealed oil containment, unlike the big block which is open to the crankshaft, hence no windage issues on the SB. I've been running the spacer on all of my small block Guzzi rentals for 1.5 years with zero consumption issues. I use the low add mark as the full line on the '13+ dipstick with the sump spacer. Holds exactly 2.5 qts. IMO, the factory overfills the '13+ models at 2L. Nothing has changed on the motor from all the way back to the V35, so why they spec 2L from 1.6 is a mystery to me, and causes oil to end up in the air box.

It's a gravity fed system, so no way the pump has any idea how much oil is in the pan.

You probably are right and maybe I'm having another issue with the oil consumption problem.

Bike is still on warranty and I really have been putting this oil consumption issue off.

Probably time to take this thing to the shop and nip this in the butt.

Actually had the spark plugs foul out the other day because of the oil use issues.

I'm at wits end with this thing and testing the waters just to see if I can figure out what THE HELL IS GOING ON.

Just hope they don't try to blame this on that extended sump, I've found these dealerships try to worm their way out of or use any freaking thing you changed on the bike as some sort of cause of the issues.

I disconnected the charcoal filter and for some reason they try to blame that on the oil consumption. IDIOTS.

Probably time to call a lemon law attorney since it's sort of like dealing with terrorists.

Pushing oil into the air box is usually from over-filling the sump.
It can also be from a breather issue, or a ring issue. Anything that pressurizes the sump.
I can't imagine that a sump extender could in any way cause your issues. They are a common modification, there have been thousands of people who have added them to their SB's.

Thanks guys, This bike will need to go back to the dealership and let them figure this out. I'm done trying to fix things on this bike that should have been fixed under warranty or correct to begin with.
