Probably about now you may notice some oil coming from somewhere high on the engine .
Aaaah ha , you might say .
I couldnt find where it was coming from until I removed the tank and started shifting things around a bit under there . The big fat Crankcase breather hose which goes from the rear of the crankcase to the underside of the frame top tube had minute splits in it .
The splits only seem to open up to the inside diameter of the hose when the hose is "bent" forceably . Mine was stuffed completely. So was the small diameter return hose from the frame crossmember .
Guzzi Dealers are not able to supply the genuine part here in New Zealand , so I searched and found that the "top manifold hose "for a 1978 HOLDEN TORANA LC 179-186 , fits beautifully , by trimming 25mm off the long end .
In Europe I think they're called an Opel .
The new hose does require to be rotated 90 degrees throughout its length , to get the ends to align with the spiggott connections , but I'm more than confident it'll accomodate that ok , and last another 25 years .
And it only cost NZ $12.70 at Autocheap .
Hope I've helped someone with this .
