Taswegia, the best riding country in the world.
I know the owner's manual says DON'T YOU DARE PUT ANYTHING IN YOUR FUEL, but I was wondering the validity of that.

Any of the gurus here have sage advice on the dos and don'ts of things such as "Upper Cylinder Lubricant", "Octane Booster" and "Injector Cleaner"??

Not addicted to the stuff, just curious as my BMW R1150GS did seem to run better with a bit of injector cleaner every few tank-fulls.

Every year or so I run a dose of injector cleaner through. Does it do anything? Buggered if I know, sodding bike runs great every time I press the button! I tend to think that most of the 'Cleaning' products are most useful and relevant to micro-masochists and gay pirates who only ride their bikes a few times a year for a few kilometers so they sit around with the fuel going stale in the lines, tank and, most importantly, around the pintels in the injectors. Things get gummy. Bad spray pattern, poor running, yadda-yadda.

Certainly I can see no point at all in doing it religiously at some certain interval. I mean? Do you do that with your car??? I bloody don't! Only difference between my treatment of the bikes and the serial killer van is that the bikes get 95/98 and the van lives on whatever I can get at woolies! CHEAP!

There is certainly no need for this!!!!!

If the bodies are clogged somehow? Yes. In normal use? What a load of horse-shit!!!!

Any thoughts about using Stabil Marine Grade to counter the effects of Ethanol in gas.....I used it when I stored the bikes this winter...thinking that if the US goes to 15% then I might have to make it a regular part of my fill up routine...

I have considered it and see no reason not to.
I still have plenty of standard Sta-bil, so I will continue using that until it's gone. But the next version I buy will likely be the Marine Ethanol version.

Do all grades of fuel in all brands of gas in the states have ethanol added to them? Here in British Columbia the premium grade of fuel of Shell, Chevron, and PetroCan say no ethanol added.

It depends on where you live. In the States it is not a national thing but done region by region, state by state.
And at one time where I live it depended on the time of year.
But now it is all the time. That's okay. Ethanol is not the great demon it is made out to be.
