Hi All

I will be replacing the in tank fuel filter on my 04 EV Touring this spring. When the filter was last replaced by Euromoto in Laval, PQ two seasons and 30,000 km ago, the shop replaced the fuel lines & hose clamps inside the tank.

The question I have is whether I should replace the fuel line and hose clamps again while I have the tank apart. Are the clamps special in any way? I know the fuel lines have to be submersible.

It's still too cold (-20C this AM) to work on the bike, but if I need to order special parts to do the replacement I will do so before I take the tank off.

TIA

Hi John

Thx for responding.

I know that job is a PITA. I had to do it twice, once when the OEM fuel line blew off somewhere near BF Pennsylvania, and once after I got home to put in the proper grade of fuel line. The Guzzi dealer replaced the hose with the Guzzi replacement bits a couple of years ago.

The fuel level thing quit working on my second tank of gas. The odometer shortly after that. I use a Sigma bicycle computer to track my mileage now.

I have a buddy who is a mechanic. I'll check with him to see if he's got the tool you mentioned.

Cheers!

As long as you are going in, it won't take much to replace the low fuel sending unit. Even with the good odometer, the low fuel light could keep you from pushing some day.

Naw. I don't think so. I've been riding for over 40 years and never had a gas gauge until now.

The fuel sensor that is in there now is an OEM replacement one. Like I said, that one lasted 1 tank of gas. I put a rubber plug over the idiot light (that is always on) so I dont have to look at it all the time. When I have the tank off this spring, I'll disconnect it. The fuel sensor that came with the bike lasted about 1000km.

Nice concept, but like I have always said: "We have the technology. Sometimes it even works!".

I think I'll rely on the tripmeter on my Sigma.

Cheers!

G
