Fuel level sensor showing full? Ever?

Breva now has 8500 km on her clock and her fuel gauge is just one of those things I've got used to... Usually, the fuel gauge goes to about 7/8 after filling right up, but sometimes it goes all the was to full. It depends on her mood, I suppose. It takes anywhere from 250-320 km to get down to the 1/4 mark, depending upon the type of riding, and then goes very, very quickly down to an indicated zero and the light goes on. At that point, I think there's a couple litres left in the tank? So I think the range is a bit less than 400km, and without a passenger and luggage, and restraining the right wrist, it's probably possible to go a bit more...

The fuel gauge has a bit of character, but it's an ITALIAN gauge... If you want bland and technically perfect, go german or japanese...

When the light goes on, she takes 18 litres, which is about exactly right!

I just did a 5600 km trip, 2-up with luggage. The average fuel consumption was 6.6 litres/100km - and I was going pretty fast a lot of the time. That's 42 miles per gallon (or 35 mpg in US Gallons). The on-board calculation of average fuel economy seems to be spot-on.

5600 km through 3 provinces and 4 american states and not a single bit of trouble - used up a litre of oil. The only problem was when I droped guzzi on myself getting on at a gas station after riding 300 km in the driving rain at 7 degrees C with a 50 km/hr cross-wind. I think I was a bit hypothermic. We had a high temp of 39C in idaho and eastern oregon and a low of 7 coming home through alberta. Lovely summer weather...

Oh and a warning - anyone planning a trip that will involve Alberta - they're having a big fuels shortage there - 91 octane in particular is really hard to find. Apparently there were explosions at both the Imperial and Petro-Canada refineries in Edmonton. There's lots of gas here in Saskatchewan though!

Not really. The tank holds 23 litres and the reserve is rated at 3 litres, so it should take 20 litres. By the way your gauge and figures match mine very closely.

IIRC, the tank holds 23 liters, of which 4 are reserve (not all of which can actually be used). A 1200S4V owner here has gone dry twice now after about 300km, both times he put in a bit over 22.5 liters. (His gauge and reserve light aren't working too wel :S)

I can't be absolutely sure, but I think my gas needle stopped going all the way up after I rode 23 miles (37km) with the warning light on.
