hello working on a 2001 california ev injected bike with external fuel pump.sat for 6 years before coming to me to resurrect

cleaned and coated the tank first
2. r&r new from china fuel pump /fuel filter /cleaned injectors amazingly it fired up .pump started making noise (4/6 min) of running. replaced pump with a used pump would keep running but pump still noisy
3. new pump from Harpers worse than used pump checked fuel pressure 150 psi then falls off after the moter warms up to 20-25 psi . used clamp shut off fuel line going to fuel regulator and the fuel pressure does not go up. as the noise gets louder the fuel pressure drops more till it dies i think it may be air or fuel line collapsing between the tank and the pump am replacing fuel line next (between tank and pump) what could i be missing?

thank you for the fast response john

the new pump i installed come from HARPERS moto guzzi parts . it is quiet when first started when the pressure starts dropping it gets loud and is changing speed( speeding up as the pressure drops you can watch this happen with the gauge)

and the cold pressure is 150 psi at running idle for 3-5 min then it starts to drop to less than 20 psi and dies after it dies turn off the key then just turn it back to the run pos. pressure jumps back to 150 psi

the regulator should it hold 45 psi at all times running unless pump is not putting up 45 psi
do i have 2 problems regulator/pump?

any hoo changing fuel supply line to pump to day will post again later today thank you again

one other thing looked at that site you sent the link to and the pump there looks like the chinese one i bought on eBay which did the same thing i have described earlier but i will urge the owner get the fuel level doodad a real good price they have thank again john happy new year to you and all

yes replaced petcock at the very first tested bad put a manual one from .harpers the site you showed me has much better prices

But when the pressure drops i can crimp off the fuel line to the regulator and the pressure does not go up if reg was stuck open restricting the fuel to it should make the pressure go up yes/no

and is it normal to have 150 psi at start up my thinking is if the reg is working right and the pump is right the pressure gauge should read 45 psi all the time yes/no?

Should be nearly constant 45 psi. The pressure regulator works by shunting excess fuel back to the tank at the front fitting.
