Hi.
My 2011 fuel tank filler cap drain pipe will not drain water from rain or bike washing. So much so that when I open filler cap you hear/see water run into tank which I think is not good for injectors?
I have tried to put a small wire down drain hole but can't get it very far.
My partners identical bike also does this too!
Anyone else had this issue and if so any suggestions?
Thanks.

UKsriday,

I've had a similar issue with my 2011 NTX and a breva 1200 I had.

The NTX, there's two breather pipes connected at the back of the Tank (under seat) the left one is for water ingress at the filler cap, I found when removing (under seat pipe) the Connector was blocked, it seamed to be furred up. A quick unblocked of this connector seamed to work.

Marshy.

Shot of compressed air in the hole in the filler cap usually get it unplugged. On mine, found the the hose was actually pinched where it was tied by the swingarm. Take the tank shroud off and undo the left hose. Confirm that it is not inside the tank that the plug originates. Then trace the hose and look for pinch points. It should go over to the right side of the bike and then goes down where the swingarm attaches to the bike. This is where mine was pinched.

Not familiar with the Stelvio but I had the same problem on my Norge. Picking up the tank there was a brass fitting in the plastic tank where the drain hose connected. Pulling the hose off I verified it was clear. Checking the tank I found a wire only went till it reached the connector. 100psi of air pressure would not clear it. I took a small drill bit then a larger drill bit small enough to fit in the hole but still fitting snugly and turned them by hand till I drilled the offending crud. It appeared to be corrosion. The problem showed up during a trip around Nova Scotia and Newfoundland and I was surprised the amount of rain water ingested by the bike never caused a problem.

Update...abbie normal got me thinking....on my 2012, there is a brass connector that joins two pieces of hose together for the drain. As the hose comes out of the tank, about 12" down is a brass nipple and then connects another piece of hose and then goes underneath the bike by the shock. I pulled out this brass connector and sure enough, it was almost plugged solid. The connect only has a inner diameter of about 1.3mm.....way too small and will easily get plugged up. Looked like scale from the water. Pulled it out and put a larger diameter one in. No more issue. Would be better off using one piece of hose all the way. Not sure why they even have this connector.
