Pleeeeeease help

I am busy with a 1982 SP100 Guzzy The speedowormgear has to be replaced. I downloaded a manual. The speedoworm gear is held in place by a hex nut on the outside of the clutch cover. To enable me to replace the wormgear I have to remove the hex nut. But in no way can a manage to move that nut. I will post a picture taken from the manual to show the position of the nut. Is there something special. Does it have to turn it clockkwise to remove. Is there something behind that nut that is locking it into place. I have a 27 mm socket. I have a power bar. But that thing is not giving a mm.

I use an impact wrench to remove, and the factory tools to install so it isn't over tightened. It is standard turn. If you look closely, the outer edge of the nut is depressed into one of the splines so it won't loosen. Also when you remove the speedometer drive gear there is a small steel ball in the longest spline that locks the speedometer drive gear to the shaft. Take a look at that surface. I've seen plenty that weren't polished and I polish them before I put them back in. Also there is a washer under the cable worm drive so be careful of that. Be sure to punch the lip of the nut into one of the splines when you put it back together.
