It's a cleaner look I suppose, but that wasn't the side with the issue. The hole / crack that was leaking spark was actually on the inside of the 90 degree elbow on the igntion coil side. I was careful to position the new wires so that there was no pressure being applied to these elbows. Smooth sailing now - I'm falling in love with this bike!glad to hear that your issue is solved...
I am not a fan of the sparkplug wire being hidden under a metal cover, and it seem to be a euro trend these days.
i don't think you would of had an issue if that wire was out in the breeze, (unless it rained).
