A Chilliwack man died Sunday after crashing his motorcycle in Oregon.
Oregon State Police say 60-year-old William Clifford Hallsworth was travelling in a group of six motorcycles along Highway 37 in northeastern Oregon when the crash occurred.
Police say Hallsworth was travelling northboud when his 2000 Moto Guzzi "traveled to onto the lip of the asphalt edge" of the highway. Hallsworth tried to return to the road, but he lost control and was ejected from the bike. Both the bike and Hallsworth came to rest in a wheat field alongside the highway.
He was taken to St. Anthony Hospital where, despite wearing a protective helmet and full riding gear, Hallsworth was pronounced dead.
The investigation into the crash is continuing.
Hallsworth, who also went by the name Bill, was a retired manager of information technology technical services for Air Canada, according to his Twitter profile. He also organized the local Fraser Valley Coffee Club.
