In 1977 I lived in Australia and was touring on my Honda CB750 when I met a guy on a newer Guzzi 850 T3. We became friends and swapped bikes for a 'tank of gas' ride. I was surprised at how much I liked his bike, and over the years have never forgotten that ride. So about 5 years ago, I made a special trip to a remote island off the coast of British Columbia, Canada and bought a 1990 California III 1000. It had under 20,000 km on it and the paint looked almost new. I still have it and have recently put an offer on a 2001 1100 California Special. My current Cali III is quirky but charming, it's only irritating fault being an intermittant starter. I have replace both the starter and the battery but the problem persists.
I have 3 other bikes ( a BMW R1200GS, a Honda ST1100, and a BMW K75s) but the Guzzi is simply a characterful, satisfying ride.
I look forward to participating in this forum and hearing gems of wisdom from others in the group.

Welcome to the GT Forum & Guzzi Famiglia! Hope you'll add your info to our Registry linked below. Enjoy the site. Hope to see you here often! Cheers.

Welcome to the forum!

What a great story and collection of bikes you have! The journey from the CB750 to your current Guzzi sounds like a true adventure. The California III is indeed a characterful machine, and it's fantastic that you’ve kept it in such great condition.

Your other bikes are impressive as well, and it’s clear you have a passion for riding. Looking forward to hearing more about your experiences and any insights you can share. Welcome again!
Since I'm new to the forum (and the overall site), I am still figuring out how to access different sections. What do you ride, jacksonbiker?

oh lovely, Courtenay is great I go there often. if you see / hear a rumbly breva 1100 go by wave!

You have a nice coffee shop right there in "Roys Town". A red Guzzi may be me, or try Cumberland on the main drag.
You will love it here. Welcome!

And not calling me for coffee? Unacceptable...:swear::rofl:
Guys, every Thursday after 5-6pm there's a bike meet in Courtenay at Timmies beside Home Depot. Mostly retros and classics, but we see a bit of everything. I'm there nearly every Thursday because every Thursday is my romantic threesome dinner night. Basically, me and my other personalities are zippin to Courtney to have a Costco hotdog:)

my dear nephew is quite jealous of my time when I go there to visit him for the day, but!!

my plan for this season is to do more overnighters since I've found a nice b&b in Nanaimo, and I will definitely message!

I've only been to the Tim's Thursday Retro Night once (last year). I was on my red K75s, if I recall correctly. I'll look for you when I show up again (perhaps this Thursday night... if it isn't raining.) And of course, you would be invited for coffee, but do you think that Royston Roasting could accommodate 3 Guzzis at once?

So far looks clear skies for Thursday, but hey, ya know that weather goes south very quickly on our island LOL I'll see ya there then:)
