Looking for an elegant solution to problem of mounting a radar detector/GPS to the handlebar of my 2011 Norge. If you have other novel ideas that have held up (mounting to the dash plastic seems tenuous), let me know.

Ben

As mentioned, there is a great deal of info available in the posted threads. RAM mounts work very well, and can be located at the mirror mount, attached to the clutch or brake reservoirs, or at the top of the triple tree (this last is not good if you use a tank bag). You can also use a RAM base and a Touratech case or bracket for the device as a mixed solution.

I used a RAM mount to hold my Tom Tom 720Go and made a bracket that crosses the upper 2 mounting bolts at the windshield pivot. I will take some pictures and post later today. The bracket I made was from a Mercedes headrest and fit between the upper windshield pivot points perfectly. I cut to length the headrest bracket as is is about 18 inches long. It has a u bend that I fit a piece of flat plate that I mounted the RAM Mount to. It is mounted perfectly to see when riding, I don't have to look down when viewing or touching the keys.
P.S. Just got home and took some pictures, enjoy.

I use a handlebar RAM mount, and discard the U-bolt. Then with slightly longer bolts replacing those which hold the left hand handlebar to the steering head, I bolt it in place. Clean and easy to install, and can easily be returned to stock if ever required.

No problem interfering with a tank bag, mine sits so it doesn't interfere with the steering.

This has worked well for me for 8500 miles so far.... It is a Garmin 2612
connected to the top windshield bracket with a short arm inside a locked bracket.

I can read it while riding down the road without taking my eyes off the road.

I have a similar set up with mine. Works well. Even when I hit the log road....yes, I'm driving the Norge down these type of roads.

Does anyone know the type of GPS connector that comes with the 2012 Norge (found under the tank on the left side) so that I can buy one to fit my Garmin?

Thanks
Walter
