I've got agm batteries on my griso, Cal SS, and Breva 11. The Cal SS and Breva can go months without touching them, and they fire right up. The griso is on its second yuasa agm battery, and if it sits for more than a week, its dead.... is there something with the griso I should be checking. The breva has the same stuff and it lasts months, the griso, days.... I have a new battery in the griso and let it sit for two weeks and it would not start, the ss and breva which sat for at least a month both fired right up... any suggestions on what to look for
Thanks

With the new battery how long did you leave it to sit after you'd put the acid in? The AGM's need a goodly while for the electrolyte to get through the mats.

I always fill 'em and leave 'em over night before attempting to use 'em. Overnight soak and then a 1/2 hour high rate charge with the cahrger or simply get on and ride for 1/2 an hour.

If you don't give 'em time they spew out electrolyte and warp the plates so the mats short out.

Pete

Sealed lead acid batteries have a self discharge rate of about 20%/month. If your plates are toasted, you will have an internal short, and it will self discharge faster. The lower impedance the short (IE the more worn the plates) the faster it will discharge.

So unless your battery was garbage when you bought it, it sounds like there is something else wrong. Check and see if there is any current draw when the bike is off. It would be only a couple mah, but if you disconnect a battery terminal and measure current (amps, not volts) between the wire and the terminal, it SHOULD be 0.
