For the last 3 years I`ve been twisting my mirrors in to give me more clearance to get the bike thro` a narrow doorway into my outhouse. Finally they cried "ENOUGH". So, called the local dealer to order a pair of genu..whine guzzi replacements. F*** me ragged with a pineapple! Over £50 a piece! Over £100 + tax! for 2 poxy mirrors! So, a bit of searching for suitable replacements ended up with these http://www.patternparts.net/images/ww/parts/588110.jpg Well the very good news is that they came in at £20 each :D :D and the thread at the top of the stem is exactly the same as the griso, so just screw the mirrors onto the original griso stems, simples :woohoo: . Apart from the beading that holds the glass in place, they`re identical to look at, but without the lump of cast iron surrounded in foam thats inside the original. Now I know what some of you are thinking, the added weight dampes the vibrations to give a clearer view. Bollux! These replacements, as well as looking identical to the originals, weigh a hell of a lot lighter with no visibility issues as far as I can see. (I can see the sun, an` that`s 93 million miles away). So why the hell does guzzi want to charge in excess of £120 for mirrors that clearly (pun intended) don`t need all that extra Iron filler and my money? OK rant over. Need another beer cos it`s damn hot here for a change.

That's the magic of the middleman and overhead.
The manufacturer makes them for MG for a profit, who then sells them to a dealer for a profit, and then sells them to you for a profit. Of course it costs money to ship it from place to place as well.
In many of the places I've worked, the companies have at least a 30% markup on items. Many places actually double the price on parts. Those $25 USB cables at the big box stores cost less than $1 to make.
The beauty of our society is that you aren't forced to buy the dealer mirrors.
Enjoy your beer, but just don't think about how much it actually cost to make it! ;)

The stock Griso/Bellagio/Norge mirrors are some of the vilest on the market. Apart from the plastic chriome being crappy and not even standing up to a decent insect hit the lenses come loose and buzz and the whole mounting olive arrangement is often so poorly made that they will still swivel no matter how hard you tighten 'em up.

The Aprilia/Sport 1200 Guzzi mirrors not only give you a great view, they don't buzz, look a zillion times less tacky don't fuzz up at any given RPM. They just work, and they don't make yer griso look like a cheap whore's purse!!!!

Mine seem to have the first inklings of damp getting in the silvering at the edges too. Bumm mirrors are the best - if not particularly stylish. Given the width of the std bars I'm somewhat conscious of adding further to this with longer mirror stems though.
