I have experimented with the baffles in and out of my Mistral exhaust and the only change is that the popping is significantly more muffled with the baffle in place - but it's still popping at anything less than on the throttle at 5k rpm and beyond. I noticed that at full throttle in top gear it won't redline with the baffles in - but it will with the baffles out. To me, that indicates that the fuelling up top is pretty rich, yet the fuelling down low and mid-range is far too lean.

I want this thing to behave like it should and would like a comprehensive solution. Already have removed slack from the cables, 1st service completed, TBs balanced, TPS reset, ECU reflashed w/latest map, removed tipover valve, and removed the carbon canister and plugged the tubing. Soooo:

Is a custom race map possible?
Race ECU?
Do I need a Power Commander?
How can I properly tune in the low RPM range?

Shouldn't a remapped ECU solve all the @#%@# lean fuelling issues programmed into the bike?
This is only the second FI bike I have owned. My other FI bike's fuelling is spot on! All my other bikes have been carbureted and dialed in perfectly. This bike should be, but is nowhere close under 5k RPM.

One more thing - I would like to open up the airbox, too, for more power and freer breathing. Need some advice and some viable options or I swear I'll offload this machine. I shouldn't have to tinker this much to get it to run properly. Modifications should be for personalizing / customizing the bike - not getting a brand new machine to run the way that it should before it is sold to a customer. I am willing to give it a genuine effort, but there's a limit. Thanks!

:? Wow Drew... Really?
Check out the first few threads here in the Griso section for info about Todd's replacement filter & cover set-up and follow all the threads about the custom ECU flash, the PC-V and the auto-tune (found in the main tech section at the top of this site). You'll find there's been a lot offered through Guzzi Tech with happy riders commenting on the performance changes. The mods are all easy to accomplish and can, for the most part, be done independently or in steps.
Hope I am understanding what your looking for! Feel free to drop me a PM and I'll detail out what mods I did on mine :)

Edit: Some of the articles are easy for me to find cuz I've been such an anal retentive freak about reading them all

On the graph below, the red is you with a stock bike.

The green is ROUGHLY what you see with a muffler only, no fueling correction.

The blue is Me (GT-Rx L/S slip-on muffler and open lid air-box), after Todd's full system, and a 1 point compression increase (well, actually a squish band modification).

Obsiously the blue line would be a bit lower without that squish band mod, but the point is, the stock map leaves an INCREDIBLE amount to be desired. The amount of power missing from the powerband shows just how poorly tuned it actually is. The ECU limits/eliminates pinging, the PC-V eliminates popping, has MUCH smoother throttle response, and makes your bike WAY faster.

Yes, it is true the stock map is rich on the top end. My PCV/AT removed about 10% fuel out of the top, after my mods.

Thanks. I sent a PM to Todd but haven't heard back from him yet. Hope it went through...
