Grisso top end rattles

Had the cams and followers replaced again , sump flushed but nobody wil pay for oil pumps to be inspected. Im going to get oil analysis done at 500, 1000, 2000 km post repair to see if nitride coating on followers starts to fail again

All that time and money on oil analysis, I would sleep better if I spent my money on oil pump inspection/replacement before it was started.

I'd just like to add a correction to the above statement.

The fact is that JSG, our importer, went in to bat pretty hard on this one. I spoke at length to both Peter and Daniel about your bike and both of them went out of their way to write directly to Piaggio and try and get the go-ahead for a full inspection. The fact you've got a big, fat, NO! Has nothing to do with our importer.

Is it satisfactory? No. I don't think so. But lets just make sure that people who have spent time and effort on your behalf aren't tarred with the wrong brush. OK?

Pete

not trying to tar anyone with the wrong brush but when not happy i am going to sound upset. is the removal of the oil pumps a major undertaking as i am a marine engineer/fitter & turner with tools and a workshop and im hesitant to start spending more on a bike ive already paid a lot for

What is your email address I'll send you a PDF file of the service manual and Parts list and you can judge yourself.

yes the choice of oil in the 8v is of paremount importance, as we all know what happened to my 2008 8v when some one refilled it with 20/50 mineral oil at 1500klm.It was a mistake never to be repeated

just pulled oil pumps out they dont look to bad but ive never had an oil pump out at 16000 km. ill take to my dealer to have a look on monday

Well, that's good news. Our power has dropped out down here Mike so I haven't been able to check the part# for the oil yet, (I'm using Jude's iPad for this.) gimme a day or two.

There are still some Knuckleheads here in the US who still don't get "it" as Pete can attest to, it's only shades of grey a Black and White answer is an invitation express doubt especially if it goes against long ingrained opinions. Wonder what will happen a few years from now when perfectly good 8V' s become readily available in the used bike market how many will go tits up because of the ingrained mindset. "Well dam I used good ole Castrol GTX 20w50 just like I did in my Eldo and T3".

Trust me it will happen.
