Last Sunday, the 7th, was our normally scheduled Moto Guzzi breakfast for the Las Vegas Guzzi Riders. The bad news was almost everyone was out of town. The good news was the Dorte Petermuss, an event coordinator for the Danmark Moto Guzzi Klub, was in town, with family and friends for a wedding. Tyler and Albert connected with them to show them around, and also invited them to our breakfast.

Coincidentally, Sunday was also the day of a charity ride for one of our department's motor officers, who recently contracted some rare disease that has really devastated him and his family. Myself, Kawasaki Joe, and Mike Foote (a retired cop from SoCal, and former motor officer himself) had planned on doing the charity ride.

We were able to sign in to the ride early, and then head for the breakfast. We had a great time visiting with Dorte and her group, and head a great breakfast in a new Italian place that Tyler discovered. After that, Joe, Mike and I headed for Mt. Charleston. The ride was a "do-it-yourself" affair, with extra raffles at the lodge as incentive to ride up and back. There we picked up a couple more guys who I work with for the ride back.

Unfortunately we got stuck coming back down the mountain behind a 500 lb. Harley rider on a 500cc Buell, so it was a slow affair. The barbecue awaiting us was a welcome sight. We didn't win anything in the raffles, but they did give away some good stuff. Link HERE to some of the event pics. It is mostly pics of folks who were there.....a good turn out of care for a good guy.

Well, we have our ways of dealing with it. My daily ritual when I leave for work in the afternoon is to douse myself with the garden hose....I'm dry by the time I ride for twenty minutes to work, wearing a mesh riding jacket. I also switched to the tan desert boots for summer riding after getting a sunburnt foot through my black boots a couple of years ago.

Never too hot for a ride!! Of course, it helps that Nevada has well air-conditioned casinos in every town and city!!
