Guzzi engine and trans case

Got a 1993 Guzzi with some case corrosion. These are raw aluminum castings. When did they start to paint them silver? Thoughts on weather I should paint them like the 1997's or let them show a little discoloration?
 
What John says.....unless (for vanity/looks reasons) you want to take engine completely to pieces and get the parts vapour/media blasted; and even then I would never put new paint (or powder coat) on the clean surfaces as they are easier to keep fresh if they don't have coatings on them (it's game over once the worms of corrosion get in the edges where the coatings end). For me a 1993 bike should have patina anyway ! Here's a 1989 badly corroded one (even piston rings were rusted into the pistons !) before and after...
