Just fitted Aprilia Dorsoduro handguards. Slimmer than some I've seen. They seemed to be angled down a bit, but are still quite effective. I've got some Mana bars to fit next. Anyone tried those?

They deflect the wind and stop your hands getting so cold. I went out on an evening/night ride the other night just after I'd fitted them. It only went down to about 8C, but my hands didn't get so cold, and I had quite thin gloves on.
Not sure about the aesthetics, probably better looking naked. I'm going to put a larger screen on too, that might improve the cosmetics. had to do something following my mate with an FJR 1300, heated grips, heated seat! He doesn't feel the cold apparently! Handguards were cheaper than a Norge, but not as good looking!

potential benefits

1) eliminate effects of Newton's law of forced cooling... your hands stay warmer in the winter
2) gloves stay dry(er) in rain
3) when you drop the bike you don't break the brake/clutch levers
4) aerodynamics. I've heard folk say that buffeting at high speed is reduced after fitting handguards

downsides

1) eliminate effects of Newton's law of forced cooling... your hands stay too warm in the spring/summer/autumn
2) they usually look crap

I've been leaning towards getting the Dorsoduro guards for my B11 as they don't look too bad but will protect my hands a bit. I have vented gloves for summer.

I have the stelvio ones - fit exactly with no mods as all switchgear is the same - look a bit large but I like them.
