Ok, first post here so let's see how this goes.

I have a 2011 Norge. It has always been quick to start. One light touch on the starter button and it was firing.

Last week I pulled the tank cleaned the K&N air filter and replaced the fuel filter (with the flow arrow point in proper direction). I also broke the red angle fuel fitting and had to drill, tap and repair with brass fittings. While I was at it Ihrew in a dual quick disconnect to make future service easier.

Since then she has been very difficult to start. Two or Three 3 or 4 seconds on the button before she will fire. Acts like it is not getting fuel, but, once started it runs smoothly with normal fuel consumption.

Any ideas on what I might have disturbed top cause the issue?

Do you let the gauges full sweep before you try to start? That should give the fuel pump time to pressurize the system. If you do, try cycling the key 3 times to pressurize the fuel system. If she starts quickly after doing this, it sounds like the fuel system isn't holding pressure after you shut the bike off. I would look at the modification you did to the fuel line.

No related but just an FYI,
You shouldn't have to hold the start button. The logic for the starter system should mean you just press it and let it go, the bike will continue to try to start for a bit of time.

Not sure what you're talking about. On my 2014 Norge and 2007 Griso you need to hold the starter button. It will not automatically disengage, starter stops turning as soon as you let off the starter button. I have never heard or experienced of what you're talking about.

Bisbonian, I know what you're referring to because my 2010 Aprilia GT had the "smart start" system, and I've seen it mentioned on this forum as well. However my 2012 Norge 8V does not have that feature - I have to hold the start button until the engine fires.

2007 Sport - touch the button and cranking will continue until the engine fires or it times out. This is normal I believe - But wait these are Italians electrics right. All rules out the window

My 2007 Norge had the, "Push the button and get out of the way", start system. Pretty unnerving the first time I hit the starter button. I thought it was stuck on, but eventually I figured it out. Then I got my 2014 Stelvio that didn't have that system. Then I had to relearn to hold the button down. I actually miss the Norge system. It was sorta fun. Garwood.

Interesting the 'auto disengage' is something I have never heard of before. Seems like a problem waiting to happen to me. Glad my bikes dont have it.
