Does anyone know any decent replacement headlights for a sporty. Im looking for a single round unit to go on my bike without a fairing and preferably one thats good for 80-90mph in the dark. The standard one is usless above 60mph! Im happy to mess around making up brackets as long as I can get good brightness with a good spread and depth.

IMO safety at night is best provided by a good HID setup. The difference fom stock to HID on my Breva has to be seen to be believed.

These blokes CLICK HERE have complete setups that you could mount with a bit of work.

what bike?

If it is a round headlight model from the late seventies or early eighties a Hella 1056 or 1057 will do the job fine. Plumb in relays and fit a 55/100 globe. If it's a Griso with more available power you could try an 80/130 but you'll need relays again as the stock cabling is very small and I don't know whether that would confuse the dash or not. Also with the plastic headlight bowl on the 'G' there might be some heat issues.

On the 1100 which lost its stock headlight on its first trip:angry: I used a 1056 and a 55/60 globe and it worked fine for the night riding I do. Can't go fast at night here unless you fancy cutting a 'roo in two or biffing a wombat.

I thought the stock main beam on my 05 B11 was pretty poor, so made up some brackets and fitted a pair of Hella FF50 spotlights running through a relay.
They attach to the engine crash bars and are amazingly bright! :woohoo:
I'll post some pics when i get a chance.

There you go, check out these babies!
