headlight/ tailight replacement bulb

Are you looking to replace the entire light/reflector assembly, or just the bulb? What do you mean by "better"?

The tail light bulb can be replaced with an LED unit; a variety are available of varying quality and with corresponding results. Unfortunately, it's hard to point you to a particular product without recent experience, since vendors change suppliers so often.

For the headlight, I haven't checked lately. However, I would just add a word of caution concerning any solution that increases the wattage used. The stock wiring and bulb holder are made for the stock bulb and wattage, so don't ignore that limit when looking at alternatives.

Thanks

just the bulbs, something brighter. e.g. halogen or LED. Thanks

I replaced the headlight bulb with a Sylvania Silvestar - H4

The tail light I replaced with a cylindrical 360 degree LED 1157 from Autozone. It is key that there are LEDs pointed sideways so it reflects off the reflector. I tried one with the LEDs only pointing back and it was not bright enough.

Slightly OT - To me the factory reflector/bucket did not fit with the retro style. I replaced the entire bucket with a Ural bucket and used a sealed beam bulb. I did find an old K750 ring in my stash to match the instruments (chrome ring/back bucket).

That's what I'd like to do with the headlight on my V7. I see the link you referenced is a LED bulb. I picked up a HID projector from The Retrofit Source and now searching for a 7" bucket that can be modified to take the assembly.

Can anyone tell me how to open the headlight to change the bulb please? I have the headlight off the bike but can't find any obvious way of getting the chrome ring off.
