Help with new V7 Special...dies when let to idle.

Heat causes the pipes and/or canister to blue. Fuel not burning off from a bad/out of sync tune or having a loose spark plug wire will put fuel in the canister. The canister is the first restrictive part of the exhaust from the combustion chamber. The liquid fuel ignites in the canister instead of being exhaust gas passing through the canister.

Two injectors, though. One at each cylinder. Don't know how, but anything is possible.

Hmmm,
I suppose with an intermittent spark, you still could get unburned fuel dumped into one exhaust, with discoloration like Deb and Scott.
Maybe not the same issue as those two, but my son's bike is definitely running much better. I'll have to keep an eye on his left pipe, though.

ok!! The dealer says the idle issue was fixed by remapping. the burnt muffler on the left was due to running too lean (due to mapping issue?). The total cost to fix is $2000....I am assuming it will all be under warranty or I will be quite upset!! Thank you for all your support!!
Ride on!!

2K to remap and replace an exhaust? That is not right, in any event, it should be covered by warranty. Glad you have your bike running. Ride safe!

2 grand!? That seems wrong. I'd look into what those charges are if they try sticking you with the bill. I'd contact Guzzi before paying if they tried to make you cover the cost.

Scott & Deb,

I has this exact issue on my '14 V7 Special. They replaced my ECU and did a number if other things but the issue was the map. This issue also ruined my pipes. After 3 trips to the dealer and a run to the MG service center in CA MG wrote a new map and flashed the bike with it. All issues went away. The dealer and MG were extremely helpful and they replaced my pipes. I was ready to toss in the towel but they fixed it. So get to the deal and the them it is most likely the map! Good luck!
