I am trying to cure a fault on a friends B1100 it has a hesitation in pulling high gears under load at about 3000 to 3800 rpm. Tps reset and no improvement have tried the idle trim richer and weaker but no great improvement. the bike is absolutely standard with about 12000 miles.
The warning triangle sometimes flickers when this hesitation happens but the codes read for key antenna and oil pressure and level 2, 6 and 8 but the service logo dosnt come up.
any ideas

Question - its starts around 3000 and clears about 3800? or starts at any point when opening the throttle at 3000 or up to 3800 ?

has it :

1) just started happening --- in which case has anything been changed ? or has it been stood for a while (old fuel?)

2) been like this since your friend got it ? --- If so and in general, there seems to lots of "fueling" issues (standard mapping, different fuel grades , god knows what variables from bike to bike, riding style ) in this rev range affecting some bikes more than others .. my 1100 is happier being asked to really open up from 4000 and only "really" pulling from a constant throttle above about 3500.. its not something I can't ride around on my particular bike -- otherwise I'd be after Todd's ECU.

Regarding the error codes - plenty of threads on the oil sensor warning - ranges from one-off, through poor quality sensor causing false readings (and needing replacing with a new sensor possibly just as bad), to oil pump failure. The sensible course is to change the sensor and hope you get a good one.

Hope this helps as a start and there are lots of threads on similar vein

How is the high speed sync? Have you followed Graham's tuning procedure yet? Usually poor pulling is from an out of sync condition. Once you get over a certain RPM, sync is less critical.

I think that it has become more noticable recently, the bike stumbles, if you know what I mean at around 3000 to 3800 rpm on medium throttle, most easily felt under load. I suspect that its around the change from closed to open loop, the owner suspects the TPS but I'm not so sure. The warning triangle lighting up at the same time ? loose connection? as I said no service warning comes up.
