HOW MUCH OIL GOES INTO A 73 ELDO 850 THANKS AND WHAT WOULD WORK BEST

Aw hell, an oil question. ;)
3 quarts James. Since you're in SoCal, I'd say use 20w-50 dinosaur oil, as synthetic will cause leaks-a-plenty.

James,
Both the PO and myself have run Mobil 1 synthetic in my 72 eldo (engine) without leaking a drop, however, i run dyno in the gearbox as they seem to be a bit more sensitive to synthetic and leaking seals. over 12 years and 100K on mobil 1 without the first leaked drop from the engine so far.... for the trans and bevel I use castrol stuff and throw in some moly in the bevel

BTW, if you add too much engine oil, you will foul the plugs or throw it out in the various methods the round fins use.. When I first got my eldo, I kept the oil at the top, lots of slow riding and some high speed riding fouled a few plugs. I thought I had a real problem. I found out that guzzi's have an oil level that works, add extra, and it will be expelled. I found my eldo would burn, blow by, spit out any extra, then settle and never use a drop, no fouling, no problems just me being overly concerned about keeping it topped off. With my 5 guzzi's I've found they each choose their natural fill level, then I just follow what they need. folks who say their guzzi's burn oil, (other than baby breva's and super high mileage, poorly serviced bikes) simply added too much oil...... You at the dam tomorrow?

soor 4 the later reply i was at the dam and aa we are cool hope things are well
