So after months of fighting with MGNA and going back and forth between them and pro italia, I HAVE A NEW CARC!

This was repaired OUT OF WARRANTY. But man, those guys are a pain in the ass.

I think the guys at proitalia were about ready to shoot me too. My bike was taking up space in their bay for about a month while guzzi scratched their heads and drooled some.

Its nice to have my baby back. Its also nice to know that in the end, there is SOME support. Perhaps my next bike will be an 8v instead of am hp2 like i imagined...

This may all be detailed in a separate thread, but what went wrong?

I had my Norge's CARC replaced -- in warranty -- for the retaining nut coming off and causing the internals to self-destruct.

If out of warranty, at least for my issue, I would have cursed loudly, but not sure about standing to complain beyond that. Slings and arrows, etc.

What was the cause of your defect and your position?

Guzzi decided same day to replace mine under warranty, but I can certainly understand why an out-of-warranty claim may have to have gone to Italy for an OK.

Anyway, glad it worked out for you.

Bill

P.S. I don't speak SOCALian. What does "am hp2" mean?

I'm pretty sure PI wasn't happy with my Stelvio being on the rack for 2 weeks (waiting for parts) for a warranty repair either. At least there was no fight, as the bike was legitimately still under warranty.

bill hagan,

same issue as you. I don't know for sure if the internals were chewed up, but it started making a tremendous amount of noise, and the retaining nut was in fact loose.
