Good evening,

I am trying to fix starting issue on my 2007 Breva V1100. The starter solenoid engages and makes typical click, but no start. I think this might be well known voltage drop issue. I am trying to identity starter relay and terminal 3. The red arrow points to what I thought is the terminal 3 wire. Please let me know if it is not. I am planning to run shortcut from + terminal and perhaps install 7.5 Amp fuse. There is open terminal with blue/tan wire next to it, does not seem to be connected to anything. I wonder what it is it for.

W, that looks like the right wire. Does the relay click when you try to start? if so, cut the yellow wire (looks like someone has been there before), tape up the wire at the bottom of the joining link, run a new wire directly from the battery +ve through a 20 amp fuse to the yellow tail still connected to the relay. Alternatively, if you can extract the yellow wire from the relay, you can terminate your new wire (from the battery) with a normal automotive push on lug and put it in it's spot. The lug that is in the relay is a push on type, but with a small reverse tang. These are easy to remove but you will need to make a tool to do it - I used a tin can (not aluminium - too soft) and cut it with tin snips until it fit and released the tang, then the lug just comes out. The size, if I remember correctly is about 1.5 mm wide and you will need it 15-200 long at that width. Don't worry if you bend it out of shape - you can straighten it or make another quite easily.

Or, MPH in Houston TX sells a pigtail that you plug into that relay socket, plug the relay into it, then run the fused 12 volt line from the battery.

Tony, did as you described. Starter is working now and turning the engine, but no ignition. I had the battery charged overnight, so the starter was running strong until I drained the battery. It feels almost as if ignition is cut off. What do you folks think I should check next? I am thinking to remove both outer spark plugs and make sure they are intact. The bike has just over 1200 miles.

Can you hear the fuel pump operate when you switch on the ignition? Check all fuses, and of course the kill switch (although I don't think it will turn over if the kill switch is activated).

W, Sounds like you might have accidentally knocked/bumped/disconnected the fuel system, this is in the same area as the starter relay and is a 4 pole plug socket - this runs the fuel pump and the fuel gauge. ensure this is plugged in properly - may also be bad connections so giving them a clean may help.

As Dave says in the post above. you should be able to hear the fuel pump prime when the ignition is turned on - if you can't hear that, then that is where you should look

I can hear fuel pump priming and the pump relay click when ignition on. The fuses appear all intact. Starter turning, but no ignition. I don't see anything dislodged. Looks like I have to put it on a trailer and take to a Guzzi dealer in Brooklyn, New York, 2.5 hr away...

You hear the pump prime and I hope it shuts off. If it doesn't shut off I would look at the fuel filter. If it hasn't been changed to an all steel unit it may have blown.
Have you pulled a plug and checked for spark? No spark I would toggle the kill switch and check for corroded terminals. Just a few quick checks that may save the trip.
