I realize the subject may be a little dramatic however, it's getting cold out and I'm bored. So if you had six months to live, a $15-20K budget and you had to start from somewhere in the states, what would be the ultimate bike trip? Alaska and down the west coast or would you take a chance and down to Mexico (watch out for the drug cartel), Central America and onto South America? Or something through Canada? And there's always A1A down to Key West. Or no itinerary and just ride?

Start at the top of Dempster Hwy and end at Ushuiua at the tip of South America...majority of the ride through Rockies TIP to Tip twisties :)

I like the no itinerary and just ride bit.
Planning things for me always ends up being stressful ..... gotta see this, gotta see that, crap forgot to take a left turn on I81.
From where I'm standing anywhere South will do fine!!! :)

A run to Prudhoe Bay would be my pick. Maybe catch part of the PCH on the way back.

I've no interest at all in "A1A" and the East Coast. Not much desire to travel East of The Mississippi River...

Would probably spend most of the time in NM and CO.

But I'm a "Westerner" at heart...

Why put up with all that northern hemisphere shit, broarden your horizons, come Down Under, we ride all year here.

If you ride Queensland in the new year, you risk drowning or a croc attack  . But don't panic, we can send in Skippy to pick you up :woohoo: . Chuck in a bushfire or two, a couple of 'Joe Blakes' and a alf dozen 'Drop Bears' :( and it should make for a pretty exciting adventure you can remember for eternity.

I've always been told that I should avoid Oz. Don't worry about crocs, skippy, or bushfires, it the damn poisonous arachnids that hide in your boots.....

Now you've done it. You've solved the Koan--Why do Oz boys sleep with their boots on....

I have to pick a new Koan to meditate too...damn....

if I really had just 6 months left to live, riding anywhere would do... provided this were my riding buddy...

I like your style.
In 6 months, I would hope to be able to lap the World or die trying. :pinch:

Hi guys,

You all have nice and great (?) ideas.
But that wouldn't be fair to my wife...
She is my mate, my everything. :silly:
It's not only my love I'm sharing with her, it's my life I gave her into her hands.
She did the same towards me.
She is more important than my Guzzi  , Harley, 69' Chevy Pick-up and my Canon gear...

I would try to enjoy every day, week, month. But I would enjoy this toghether with my wife Joke.
And prepair her with the coming loss and temporary goodbye...
Also I have to spend some with my (many) good friends... a few partys, I think...

Sorry, I'm very serious...
A very good friend (who I know for 34 years now) )is probably standing near to that edge now...

But when you think you're alone on this world... oooh dear...
Boots on, gas in your tank and ... MOVE

You are younger than I thought, where is the red suspender and corn-cob pipe?

Here they are, in a slightly more appealing context...

Oh yeah, what a nice bike!

There is nothing like a glimpse of the grim reaper on the horizon to focus the mind. I'm recovering from a radical prostatectomy and with a Gleason score of 4+3, I am eagerly waiting my 1st post op. PSA test. Hopefully I will be around for years and years.

I have 2 overseas trips on my list.

I've been laying the ground work to get approval from my sweet wife for a trip from Italy to the UK and Ireland, including the Isle Of Man TT next June. I've got an old Suzuki Intruder VS1400, (now theres a bike), patiently waiting for me in Spinea, near Venice.

The 2nd trip is to buy a second hand Guzzi in good ol USA, something like a MG Stone, and do a lap of the States including Alaska and Canada. Obviously that has to be a northern summer thing, so perhaps in 2013.

In Australia, I will be doing the Alpine highway (north eastern Victoria and southern NSW) this summer on my 1200 Sport. :D

Now, I've just got to finish the bathroom renovation for my wife. :S

Cheers Mark.
