I finally tracked down the correct kit to replace my factory v7 Stone handlebars with the racer ones. Why it never occurred to me I'd have to drop the fork tubes is beyond me.

Is there a secret? Is it easier than it looks?

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
XTN.

Unless you have a service lift and scissor/flat jack, you'll have to pull the wheel, fender and each fork tube. Don't try to slide it down as an assembly, else you'll be more then frustrated putting things back together. A few pry-bar or screw-drivers to ease the tension from the triple trees is helpful. You'll also need the Racer clutch cable, as the bent end/guide at the lever is different, and it's shorter.

Thank you. Frustrating.

Do you have any advice for getting that front wheel off? It looks like two lock screws and a big axel. I'll have to go buy that tool, do you know the size? What do I need to know about the front fork springs when I start undoing things?

Thank you so, so much in advance.
