I noticed some condensation forming in the speedo when riding in the sun the other day. I've only had the bike in the rain a few times, so i'm a bit disappointed. Is there a fix other than replacing the dash unit? Does replacing the unit really solve the problem?
( I found that if you replace the fuel level sending unit, the replacement they send is the identical one issued originally on the bike) I fixed mine by disassembling the float unit and clipping the top coil plus a half turn or so off the spring, thereby allowing the float to rise a smidgen more. The tank gauge reads full till about 60-70 miles the drops to 2/3. Stays there till about 100-110 miles, then drops to 1/3, then 30 miles or so later the idiot light comes on, still about a gallon or more in the tank at that point. I'm happy with that performance. I still use the trip odometer as an adjunct to the fuel guage anyway, no matter what bike I'm riding.
