Is there a way to dim the instrument lights on a V7 III Special?

I don't have a manual handy, so decided to ask here about this.

At night, the tach and speedo illumination on my V7 III are too bright, and on high beam, the blue indicator light is almost blinding. In fact, it's easier to see the roadway at night with low beam than with high beam due to the overly bright blue high beam indicator glaring at you.

I might have to resort to placing a small piece of black tape on the speedo glass to block that high beam indicator. I live in crazy Deer country, and would appreciate my headlight being as useful as possible at night.

*EDIT* Sorry thats for the V7 1.5!

Yes you can, I accidentally found out the other day.
As soon as you start the bike, press the right button (Clock/Temp) and it will adjust the brightness in three levels if I remember correctly.
Found out by trying to see the time as soon as I started mu bike, must have been in a rush :/

Backlight "Instrument backlighting adjustment"
Backlighting of instruments and gauges (needles of scales and displays) can be adjusted
at three levels.
This parameter may be adjusted during the initial check cycle. Press the "MODE"
button and quickly release to access the function. Press the "MODE" button to display
the following levels:
- 1 (Minimum)
- 2 (Medium)
- 3 (Maximum)
After three seconds with no input from the "MODE" button, or once the vehicle speed
exceeds 5 km/h (3.11 mph), the value is stored and the display returns to trip journal
mode.
