Tire - my rear tire is wearing extremely fast, I am running 38 psi front and 42 psi rear most of my driving is 2 up, 142 miles a day on the super slab. With 1500 miles on the bike I am all ready getting a flat spot on the rear tire. Are these Pirelli’s that soft? At this rate I will be lucky to get 6,000 miles out of the rear. At $160 each (the cheapest I have found) I will go broke in rear tires for one season.

Oil - I hate having only one choice for oil in the USA (Agrip) for 10W-60 at least that is the only manufacture I have been able to locate. There price is ridiculous as well. Would running 20W-50 Amsoil void the warranty? At least there are about 15 oil filter manufactures to choose from.

Motorex makes a 10W-60 oil for a little less, I think I paid $15/qt at MG Cycles. I to would love to use 15W-50 though.

Can you get a Roadsmart or Pilot Sport 2 in the Stelvio rear tyre dimensions? Those ought to fare better on the superslab...!

Michelin Pilot are rear only, no front match. I fitted a rear Bridgestone Battlax BT-020 - as the front is also availiable as a match, but it lasted exactly the same as the original Pirelli.
I got a feeling that Guzzi-ists are used to 10,000 + miles from a tyre. Ok that's possible with all your old 2v chuggers. Now we're entering 100hp+, same as the Japs and Triumph, you get 6k for a rear, 10k front. More power rubs off more rubber.
In 20 years of owning 1000cc+ bikes I've never had more than 6/7k from a rear tyre.
Worst bike of all time..............2wd Ural 750 combo with Russian Knobbly's......2500 km and they were shot big time.

As for the tires; check the difference between hot and cold pressures: I believe the difference should be 10%, if it is more you should raise your cold pressure. It might make a big difference in tire life, but then again 6-7k is pretty good.
