Rebuilding a California jackal and having some issues. All ready changed the fuel petcock to a manual one, but now running in some issues with the fuel level sensor.

Was wondering if it’s possible to change the petcock to a regular fuel tap with a reserve so I don’t run out of fuel 🤪.

Are there any options for fuel level sensor to work with aftermarket gages?

Ps just did my donation to the site, as there’s a treasure of information on this site. 👍👍♥️

I don't think you would want a petcock with a reserve position. Fuel is needed to lubricate the fuel pump. Best answer is to keep an eye on miles driven and fuel up before you run out. You may need to replace the fuel level sensor as they can go bad. Be sure to not connect the petcock connector to the fuel level sensor. The connector with the red band is for the petcock.

Thanks for the reply. 100% sure didn’t switch the connector 😉. Quite sure the sensor is bad but replacement is hard too find and very expensive. Searching for a other solution (are sensor) as I’m going to run after market dashboard.

Sensor is pretty simple. It just provides a ground path for the low fuel light. Doesn't look all that expensive. It is just under a hundred US dollars. I don't know of any other sensor that would fit.

Over here (Europe) they’re around 150€ and hard to find apparently 🙈. Will figure something out 😉
