I came across this today and though it informative.

"As for standing riding position off-road, the handlebars might be a little low for someone of my height. Also, the footpegs feel like they are mounted a little high and farther forward than I’d like for dirt work..."

I concur. Compared to my V85TT, the Stelvio has 3/4" less distance from seat to peg, plus the pegs are about an inch farther forward. The taller seat should help (if it ever shows up).

"I also had no complaints about the Stelvio’s suspension on any road sections other than the harsh rear shock on high-speed hits like potholes..."

IMO the Stelvio's biggest shortcoming is the suspension as the rear shock, and to a degree the forks, provide a pretty harsh ride on rough roads. I'm wondering if the shock being radically slanted forward makes it work harder, contributing to the problem?

I'm with Clifton. I absolutely love the new Stelvio but, on anything but smooth tarmac the suspension is a little harsh. The suspension will be upgraded ASAP. Mines also going in for a complete colour change. I really don't like the colour schemes or the flat paint. I'm torn between red and silver as a nod to the original Stelvio or a black with white stipes similar to the V85 guardia.

My V100 was horribly stiff when I first got it. It has gotten a lot better after 1,000 miles. Because of winter I haven't to ride it as much as I would have liked. I expect it will get even better as a few more miles are added. Part of it is that I am only 160 lbs soaking wet. give it some time before you spend more money.

If it were me, I would seriously check with GTM for his custom crafted Matris suspension options.

It is amazing to me how people will spend nearly the same amount on off the shelf components when for a few dollars more, they could buy custom tailored equipment setup to their exact body weight, fully rebuildable, Italian craftsmanship Matris suspension from GTM in the STORE.

If you have questions, use the CONTACT feature in the store to send your inquiry.

If I go to the expense of replacing a new shock it'll obviously be with one that is sprung for my weight. For now (around 600 miles) I'm still giving it a chance to break in. The rear shock on my Tenere 700 was horribly stiff, which improved to just stiff after backing off all the compression damping. By around 1,500 miles I noticed the shock was more compliant and was able to start increasing the damping.
