I'm getting alot of scratches on my new Breva 1100's gas tank. Back in the late sixtys and 70's when I raced moto-cross, we didn't have the suspensions they do now. As a result, we had to hang on with our knees pressing against the gas tank or get bucked off. I must be a creature of habit because I find myself doing that with my Breva. I wear the usual synthetic armored pants and boy do I have some scratches on the paint already after only 700 miles! I'm going to order some of the clear protectant plastic to help that matter. In the mean time, what product would you suggest to rub out the scratches that have already occured ? I don't want to damage the paint by using the wrong product. Thanks for any suggestions. max

These folks http://www.jmhmotorsport.com/ have designed custom panels for the Breva (Morgan made the templates from my Breva) they work great. For the scratches, use a very fine buffing compound and allot of water. Better to leave a smaller scratch then go too far.

I have used the Tankslapper product for a number of years on my Guzzis, including my current Breva 1100. Great stuff! Get the Tankslapper stuff these folks sell, not the 3M stuff they sell. The 3M stuff has an adhesive and is trickier to install.
The Tankslapper stuff goes on easily and peels off easily (if need be) as it is applied with a solution of water/alcohol.

Being another tank knee-gripper, and always wearing leathers, knee pads are a must for me. I cut mine from conveyor belt material and fixed them with neoprene contact adhesive. Easily removed without paint damage using a heat gun for adhesive release and turpentine for adhesive removal.
There are some good looking carbon lookalike knee pad and rear of tank protectors available too. Those clear film protectors don't appeal to me - I'd rather see the marks of use-scratches and stone chips, which give a bike character.
