I am currently hosting three New Zealand Guzzisti at my home. Two fly home tomorrow. The third has to get to Los Angeles to ship his moto back home before flying. Problem is he has a six-speed Lemans stuck in 4th gear. I'm willing to cart him to Los Angeles. He would need someone to provide lodging and cart his bike to Compton for the shipping. Please let me know if you can bail him out. Probably happen over this holiday weekend.

WooHoo. We got brave and ripped into the side of the transmission. How fortuitous that I had just been watching Matt from New Mexico do such a repair at the National Rally last weekend.

We found a broken shift system spring. There are two different ones in the six speed. The return spring was still intact and centering the shift lever. That is what confused us about the systems.

Munroe Motors in SF had the spring. We brought the bits up there and Matt Prentiss kindly reassembled it all and gave us advice on how to reinstall and time the gears.

All done and cleaned up. Shifts all six gears with only one Neutral! So, the Kiwi is now able to get himself to Los Angeles and the shipper and won't need local assistance.

Patrick, I went looking for this thread and couldn't find it... any way, happy to have him pop in and perhaps spend a night if he'd like to be shown around. We'll likely do out first Sunday meet at the Rock Store if he wants to meet us there or any time. Ping me direct e-mail.
