Hi Stelvisti

Next week i would like to change my OEM Sachs shock for a custom build Wilbers shock.
The new Wilbers shock is build for the weight of 2-up and luggage.
I have read already some threads here, but still it is not fully clear to me if i can change
the rearshock easily without removing the swingarm and the Exaust.

Any advice is most welcome.

Thanks

Hi Louis, I've just had a look at mine in the garage and you certainly won't have to remove the swing arm. I've got an aftermarket exhaust on and that doesn't look like it needs to come off either although the 'stocker' is a big old item. Tassie Mike fitted a new shock recently, might be worth dropping him a PM. Best of luck and keep us posted as to how good the Wilbers shock is - I may be tempted :p

Check with Todd -- I once sent him a step by step with photos for swapping the stock shock with a YSS I obtained from him. If it is not available, send me your email and I'll see if I can locate it for you.

Louis,
did you get a "procedure" for the shock swap? If so is it something that you could share?
Thanks

Well folks i took the time this afternoon to make a "procedure" with text and pics and that is how i did it.
I did it with a friend of mine who also has a Stelvio NTX and both we swapped the shocks yesterday.
I have now a PDF file to share, only i must see how to put it here on the forum.
If i am able to do, i hope you can use my "procedure".

Hi Louis, I'm pleased it worked out for you. I take it you had the shock tailored for your weight ? How did you find the service with Wilbers ? Cheers, Bry.

Hi Bry

Had a ride today with 2-up and i have played with the adjustments, I am very satisfied about the new shock and it is much better than the stock one. Yes, the new shock is tailer made for me on my weight, weight of the passenger and weight of the load.
Specified it was: 95 kg for me, 70 kg for the passenger and 45 kg for the load. (side panniers/topcase/campinggear etc) In Holland we have a company named HK-suspension and they are very friendly and helpful. I ordered my Wilbers at these company and they allowed me to change the shock myself in their workshop.
Saved me some money and the service was very good.

To show how bad my stock shock was, look to the photo's down here.
I have a Hugger on my NTX and look now to the scratches on that hugger and by which part of the bike the scratches were made.
