Took her out again today to verify everything is in working order. Doing a little “Shake Down Cruise” before launching off to the first one of the year, Mutton Run and Cheese Curd Chase with @Bill Hagan et al. She is running like a complete dream.

I must be getting older because I actually put the DB killer into the Mistral pipe this morning and I like it better. The sound is nice and Basso Profundo without being obnoxious. :) Granted, I have GTM’s full fueling setup but with the DB killer removed, you will get the very occasional popping on deceleration, but with the DB killer installed, you cannot even hear it when it happens. The sound is effectively muted down very significantly.

So looking forward to a nice lengthy trip on my Stelvio NTX. Call me crazy, but I still feel out of all 8 of my current Moto Guzzi motorcycles, and also all the others I have had in my lifetime, the Stelvio NTX is BY FAR, in my opinion, the very best motorcycle that Moto Guzzi has built thus far. The quality of the materials, the riding comfort, the power and handling, the fully adjustable suspension, the factory saddle, literally everything about the motorcycle, is just exceptional. I love this motorcycle so much. I will never sell her. Truly one of the world’s great motorcycles.

Tomorrow I need to mount up my rear case. I bought it over a year ago and it is still in the box that was shipped to me. :D

Looking good, Scott.

There will be three -- yes, THREE  -- Guardia d'Onore V85's on the Mutton Run.

We Oreo Guardians have appointed your NTX as lead warship on the trek to Daviess County! :)

Of those, only my Guardia continues on chasing cheese curds in the Driftless area).

Mine is, BTW, now sitting atop the lift in the Moto Grappa after getting new engine oil and filter and air filter -- what a PITA that latter was :swear:, at least for first time -- and now awaits a final fastener check, clean-up, and packing its bags with things that I likely won't need, but seem essential at the moment. :giggle:

See you and your NTX soon in Cross Junction.

Bill

Looking great, Bill!

The mighty Stelvio NTX and I are truly honored.

If I’m not mistaken, my favorite Anglophile and great storyteller, @Lannis and his mighty black Gen I Stelvio will be among the usual suspects as well 🤞👍👌

Black adventure Moto Guzzi’s will definitely be one of the color themes this dance!

It is going to be a spectacular Mutton Run & Cheese Curd Chase! So looking forward to the whole thing. What glorious fun.

It’s so good to be alive!

Gratitude.🙏🙏🙏

Um, the “Oreo Guardians”

NO thank you auto corr3ct :p

Don,

I detest auto-correct and -- based on what it does to what I thought I said -- it detests me. :swear:

Once sent a text to our daughters: "Don't worry. I am at urgent care with your mom. Minor. Will keep you posted"

A-C converted that into "Don't worry. I am at virgin care ..." :giggle:

That was funny (to me; less so to the girls! ;)), but nearly all of my A-C experiences are bad.

Yet, "Oreo Guardians" was intentional.

Yes, that might be viewed by some as irreverent -- tho I am a longtime devotee of the Carabinieri and, in fact, ride Guzzis because of working with them for three years in Italy. Moreover, it's not original with me, but many of us with those wonderful black beasts do refer to ourselves as "Guardians of Oreos."

In fact, I just ordered one of these that I hope gets here before we launch on the Mutton Run.

Best,

Now that’s funny gentleman! 😆😆😆

I should buy a “Guardian of Oreos” just to put this logo on the side cases!

I wish I knew somebody really good with Photoshop because if Cookie Monster was wearing a Carabinieri Uniform and hat, eating Oreos, that would definitely be @Bill Hagan ’s side case images!

Not the Air Force. The Carabinieri. The Italian Gendarmerie.

Bill is a huge fan of them. I am too. Always so.

Sorry, I’m confusing the history again maybe, was one of the founders in the Air Force , in whose memory they named the company ?
( why I didn’t read the Carabinieri as riflemen )

The Carabinieri have nothing to do with Moto Guzzi per se.

They just happen to be a favorite thing of @Bill Hagan and he decorates his motorcycle in their logos. He also has some exceptional gear emblazoned with their logo etc.

Bill, is a retired US Army Colonel, and a paratrooper, and I believe he served alongside of the Carabinieri during his Army posting in Italy.

A Cookie Monster dressed as a Carabinieri, eating Oreos is the ultimate side case stickers for Bill’s V85 “Guardian of Oreos”. 😆

If there was a way to put this uniform on the above Cookie Monster, eating Oreos, tgat is the ultimate Photoshop!

Carlo Guzzi and his friend Giovanni Ravelli were both in the Italia Air Corps. Giovanni died in a test flight crash and they added the Eagle spreading it's wings in his honour.

Guilty, Your Honor. I am an unabashed fan of the Carabinieri.

It all started when I worked those great guys at Caserma Ederle way back when. I remember every one of those wonderful bubbas in this photo, taken outside of the Carabinieri “bar” one morning. So many stories. Scott, I’ll try to tell some you haven't heard on the Mutton Run. OBTW, got a call from another Guardia owner who will join us at the ferry across the Ohio River. That makes four as an escort for your NTX!

When I left the command in Italy, the Carabinieri gave me this.

Anyone familiar with military and corporate mementoes knows that they are often “check the block” exercises. I know, however, that this one — which no doubt sounded grand in Italian, if a bit strained, even silly, when translated into English — came from comrades who liked and respected me. That regard was mutual, though I am certain that I learned much more from them than they did from me,

Nei Secoli Fedele!

Bill

P.S. Apropos the Mutton Run and Cheese Curd Chase, my Guardia is almost ready for combat operations. R&R’d oil and filter; ditto air filter. Snugged all fasteners. Packing panniers now.

Now, I am trying to discipline myself to only take c.8 tees of my 110 or so!

@Bill Hagan

Everyone brightens a room my dear friend.

A rare few like you, (wherever and whenever you enter. Truly.)

Most however brighten the room when they simply leave.

The Carabinieri are Men of Great Character and Honor - Men of Distinction.

These priceless pieces of your life, show clearly that way back then, Men of that caliber, saw these things in you and honored you with complete respect and high praise. Well done Captain. Outstanding.

No surprise there at all. 🙏
